IMBB/SHF - Cookie-Swap-The Black And White Bar




The Black And White Bar
Chocolate layer:
1/2 +1/8 cup flour
1/4 ts baking powder
1/8 ts salt
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
2 oz chocolate (melted)
1/2 cup (=120 gr)butter,melted and cooled
1 ts vanilla extract

Sponge layer:
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 ts baking powder
1 egg, separated
1/8 ts salt
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1/2 ts vanilla extract
1/6 cup milk
1 TB butter (=15 gr)

Frosting (at the end of the recipe) .
Oven - 350F 9x7 in Pan

Chocolate layer:
Combine flour+baking powder+salt.
Beat eggs slightly. Gradually add sugar,melted chocolate,butter and vanilla.
Blend in dry ingedients. spread in pan.

Now make the sponge layer:
Combine flour,sugar +baking powder.
Beat egg white and salt until foamy.Add 1/8 cup syrup ;beat until stiff.
Beat egg yolk,1/8 cup syrup+ vanilla.
Heat milk and butter to boiling ; add to yolk mixture.
Blend in dry ingredients. Fold into egg white.
Spoon over brownie mixture.
Bake at 350F (180C) for 40 minutes. Cool. Frost.
Frosting
Mix: 1 oz butter + 1 1/2 TB cocoa + 1 oz chocolate+ 2 TB yogurt or sour cream.
Cook until the mixture starts boiling. Turn off heat and add 2 1/2 oz powder sugar (=50 gr) -(or fine sugar) Frost the cake.

Beautiful! I've never seen a sponge made with corn syrup before, but that one looks so light and fluffy!
